A Cup Retired

I'm sure you have heard of athletes so loved and valued that their numbers are "retired". And you know that it has to make them feel good.

Well, a couple of weeks ago on a visit to my Tearoom, sweet server Mary B brought me the saucer that goes with my favorite cup and said that there were a few chips that had come up on it and they weren't going to be able to use it anymore... did I want it?

Did I want it?!?!? Um... that would be YES!

I have always loved the fact that you can pick a cup to use on each Tearoom visit. It's difficult to choose between their wonderful patterns and styles, but this little cup has been my favorite to use almost every time - whether a quickie lunch or a long, delicious book Tea. It's a pattern that I've never seen anywhere else... Aves Estate. I love the blue & white china pattern and the little bird that it features. Tea tastes delicious in this cup and you can't help but feel a bit dressed up and dignified when you sip out of it. And sometimes.... you just need that little extra formality to compliment a perfect cup of Cream Earl Grey carefully brewed in your Brown Betty Teapot.

And now it resides with me - at my house! OK , it may not be that the cup was actually "retired" in honor of me, but given because they are thoughtful & generous people at the Tearoom.

Oh, and also take note of the really cute little kitty creamer in the photo below. The Tearoom knew that I loved that little creamer and presented me with one of my own at Christmas.

New Hair Again

Be ready for a big surprise as I've changed my hair...again...

Taaaaaaaaa-Daaaaaaaaa!

I'm exploring life as a redhead for now. More like Ariel from the Little Mermaid red. I wanted it a little more subtle with dark brown, but oh well. It's fun for now!

What do Pamela's Girls think?

Have a great week!

Love you,

The First Week Of My New Job!

Well - it was a full week of learning names and faces, programs and systems within the company, what is where in the new office and other numerous adventures.

It is such a different environment from where I was before. Instead of a cozy office within an old house, I now enter a building with shops, salons, businesses, two delis, a Japanese restaurant, a music/food venue, galleries and the odd tattoo parlour. Originally completed in 1907, this building served as a warehouse for many hardware and grocery wholesalers. It was a building that connected Nashville's business community to the railway and has a memorable history of notable tenants. As a matter of fact there was a coffee roasting company that had residence in the building that - as the story goes - named one of their brands after a local hotel and produced a cup of coffee that Teddy Roosevelt proclaimed "good to the last drop" on a visit to The Hermitage in Nashville. Yep - the original Maxwell House coffee.

There is a nice little bakery/cafe across the street and a short walk to the next block brings me to Nashville's art museum. I'm thinking about investing in a membership again and using my lunch hours for an occasional stroll through their visiting exhibits.
CiCi might be interested to know that one of the shops in this building is a used bookstore... oh dear, that's dangerous! I went down one day during my lunch break to look around and made it a point NOT to take my purse!

My Boys...

These are photos of both of my boys and their 2nd birthday... Notice any similarities??? Hee hee!!!

As I said in last weeks post, I am anxiously awaiting my appointment next month when we find out if another little boy will be added to our family or if we have a little girl. Muvie at church told me that her daughter recently took this at-home gender test. It said she was having a boy and then it was confirmed a month later by an ultrasound. I bought this test yesterday, but after I brought it home I read the reviews and it only got 3 stars. Most people agreed that it is 50% accurate which is the same as any guess I can make. I am debating returning it so that I don't get my mind set one way or another... What do you think Pamela's Girls?

Tomorrow is our big day... the closing! After that Mommy M will be moving again. Prayers for Auntie J during her first week of work and for SanFran S as she is moving too!
Happy Wednesday Pamela's Girls!

Beginnings & Memories

It has been a busy weekend preparing to start a new job on Monday and also for a quick visit from French Sis, who will be passing through Nashville on her way to Kentucky. Her middle daughter has been going to an American High School in the same town as her grandparents and French Sis is coming to enjoy a much needed visit in with her child. It has been a difficult thing to have one of her lovely daughters living on another continent, but it was obvious to French Sis and her family that this wonderful opportunity was one that the Lord brought about with His own care and perfect design.

I am looking forward to a new start tomorrow with my new job. It will be an exciting thing to join this work family again after almost seven years and yet it is a bit nerve-wracking at the same time. Prayers will be appreciated!

Speaking of family - last week I found some photos on my desk here at home that I have been meaning to scan and so I did! They are some of my favorites and so I am especially glad to have them in an electronic form.

I love Mommy M posing as the Statue of Liberty. I thought about saving this until July 4th, but just couldn't wait to post it. And I can never keep from smiling when I see this photo of SanFran S's little girl grin as she sketches. The third is some scary woman with an unfortunate hairdo standing with Mommy M and SanFran S. I'll leave her unnamed.

Thanks for all of your congratulations, well wishes and - most of all - prayers during my several week time of unemployment. I know that I am blessed to have a new employment opportunity and especially that it is a company where I would like to be. So many people have lost jobs and are still looking - so I am very grateful for the Lord's kindness.

Funny Baby B

Poor Baby B has been stuck inside the last few days because of cold, rainy weather. We are so thankful for the tent from SanFran S! I pulled it out today when Baby B was bored and cranky from no nap and it entertained him with more than an hour of playing time. He loaded toys in and out while watching Dora out the window.

Yesterday, Baby B took a good nap. He woke up with this wild hair. When I put him down, he immediately ran back to his room. I assummed he was going to get a toy but he grabbed his bible and climbed up in his chair to read it just like we do at night. We got him a picture bible for Christmas, and it makes me so happy that it has become his favorite book. I know that now it is because he loves identifying all of the animals on Noah's ark, but I pray it will continue to be his favorite book once he can understand the stories too.

(This photo of him making this scrunchy face reminds me of a photo I've seen of me when I was little. He was saying, "CHEESE!")

Have a great weekend Pamela's Girls!

Congrats to Auntie J.!

This blog is dedicated to Auntie J. as a congratulations on her new job!! I am so proud that she was able to get another job in this economy so quickly!! Good luck on your new position, the new career adventure and all your future endeavors!

********************************

I think my Auntie J.'s love for Paris and all things French rubbed off on me during our time together over Christmas. Just when I thought I couldn't want to visit France anymore, I think I do now.

While hanging out with Auntie J., she introduced me to Le blog de Betty. She is a cute fashionable French girl and I am in love with her style! Thank you for introducing me to the blog! Well, the other day she posted this. I have the exact same turban in black! Also, those pants are so cute and they are a brand I love, Cheap Monday, and are half off. I immediatley ordered them along with some earrings I've been contemplating that read "Oui" and "Non". I bought them both for $50! Right after the pants were sold out so good thing I didn't think about it long. :)

My Auntie J. and Uncle R. gave me some nice $ for Christmas. I put it to good use and bought a sweater from H&M. I love it because it's the shorter style to go with high waist pants and skirts, the color is really different (brownish orange) and the elbows have faux suede patches! I tried to take a picture so you can see the back of the sleeve that makes it really unique. Then I thought, what a boring background. Why don't I try to look like Le blog de Betty and put a Paris street in the background bc I know how much my aunt would like that. So, what do Pamela's Girls think of my look in Paris? ;-) Teehee!
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! I find out if I got an apartment that I applied for so I'm praying it goes my way!

Love,

SanFran S.

P.S. Please make sure Uncle R knows that I can do much better in Photoshop, but I'm super busy at work and just wanted something quick and funny. Don't want him to think this is the best his niece can do.

Boy or Girl???

I am definitely not one of those moms who can wait until her child is born to be surprised about whether she's having a boy or a girl. I'm such a planner, that it is incredibly hard for me to even wait 4 long months wondering whether the room will be in pinks or blues, whether we will need to stock up on toy soldiers or big bows... and of course names???

When we were looking around Havertys last week I fell in love with these paintings. One is missing the glass, so they were incredibly inexpensive. I LOVE the princess theme and I immediately thought about how precious they would look in a little girls nursery with pale pink walls and the black and white bedding that Baby B used. Then I realized how silly it would be to buy these now, when we very well could be having a boy.

A week passed, and I kept thinking about how much I loved these prints, and about how they were already framed and matted and such a good price. I searched online to try to find them, to see if I could possibly order them if we end up having a girl and these were sold out... I couldn't find them anywhere online. After much debate, I broke down and bought them today. Besides, we know lots of little girls who are turning 2 this year, who could use these as birthday gifts if we end up having Waites Riley instead of Macy Rivers:)

Happy Thursday Pamela's Girls!

Love,

~Mommy M
